We are in the process of renovating the upper floor of a 60s bungalow.There are 3 bedrooms and only one bathroom.We are trying to decide whether to have a door from the master bedroom into the bathroom or just have the single hallway entrance.

There is a basement suite downstairs, so this is the only bathroom us in the house.

Master ensuite bathroom access

Debating what is more acceptable for future sale regarding the addition of an ensuite master bath utilizing existing space.Creating a short 5-6ft hallway (due to the new bathroom and closet) upon entering the bedroom to allow a bathroom door entrance immediately to the left of the entrance door.Moving the bedroom entrance door to be flush with the closet wall to eliminate the 'bedroom hallway'.

Access to the ensuite bath would be through the walk-in closet (8'x3'6").This option is almost identical to the previous but the bathroom is rearranged and there is a 'public' access to the same ensuite bath via the hallway with the additional door.

Master Bathroom Remodel

I’m excited to share with you the final reveal for my Master Bathroom remodeling project!As you may recall from my previous posts: Master Bathroom Remodel (beginning) and Master Bathroom Remodel (Progress), this was a major project.We share the large shoe shelf- it was built onto the back of the new wall that was created by removing the old closet door.

Can I Use a Barn Door for a Bathroom?

We use a barn door for our master bathroom and we love it!However – I don’t know if I would add a barn door to a bathroom in a more public place, like off a living room.It isn’t as sound proof as a regular door and doesn’t lock.”Nicole from Madness & Method hung a regular door with barn door hardware on her basement bathroom.

We find our barn door to mask smells and sounds just as well as any other bathroom door!
