Last night I created the banner to announce glorious Autumn.I think it adds the finishing touch to the dining room mantle, don't you?I added pumpkins to my window boxes on the front of my cottage as well.
These are old faux pumpkins from a few years back that I bought at Michael's and Wal-Mart, so they are lightweight and I don't have to worry about them being to heavy for the window boxes.It's by far my favorite time of year.

Bring a Little Fall Decor Outside with a Simple Window Box
As a part of the landscaping, we put up this cute window box on the outside of our garage.But, as soon as the weather started to get cooler, the flowers started to wilt (see photo below).So, I wanted to try to bring in some Fall colors, and this window box was the perfect place to start.I first removed the dying flowers from the window box and wound up keeping the creeping jenny and diamond frost.It isn’t the biggest window box, and it may be a little stuffed (hopefully not too stuffed), but it really makes it feel like Fall.

I picked 12 at first.Well…The abundance of pumpkins helped our two window boxes get fall-ified this weekend.
I left the ivy in the boxes, cause it’s still growing well.The white-and-orange pumpkins were picked up from the Farmer’s Market.The larger pie-looking pumpkins were also swiped up at the Farmer’s Market (or perhaps they should be called punkins , Emily?).

But, by the end of this post, you will know all my tricks to creating a beautiful fall window box including cleaning it up so that it shines again!This little window box needed a good cleaning to shine like the beauty it is.
My window boxes are permanently attached to our house and have holes in the bottom for drainage, but I still plant my flowers in a plastic window box liner rather than in the box directly.So let’s get started planting a fall window box…I always approach my window box planting with the same concept…ThillerFillerSpillerThriller: I chose a plant with height and uniqueness for the THRILLER.You can use vines or plants that will fall over the edge of the window box and continue to grow.
