IKEA cabinets shouldn’t cost that much to create a bar area, but stocking your bar may cost more than you think.

More IKEA Coffee Bar IdeasThe great thing about a coffee bar is that it doesn’t need much space, and so can be designed into almost any kitchen, regardless of size.If you are the “double decaf, soy milk, extra-foamy” type your IKEA coffee station needs to be neatly organized.

But First: Other IKEA Hacks You Might LikeSuppliesThis is exactly what we used for the project, but you can use tools you already own, of course! The washer will hold the screw in place, and the screw will grab the countertop from underneath — no pre-drilling necessary! We used a leftover strip of countertop and this tutorial from The DIY Playbook for the industrial pipe brackets.

IKEA Besta

When designing our living room / dining room we wanted to incorporate some kind of bar or buffet cabinet. The buffet cabinets (aka sideboards) I LOVED where $1k+ which was not in our price range. This is a great option for a lower budget buffet cabinet that’s fully customizable.

The only part we didn’t get from IKEA were the legs because I felt like the Besta ones looked cheap. In order to install the ones I bought on Amazon you have to drill the holes yourself – super easy!

The Cam3l Bar

Ikea items used:2 x Kallax square shelves/ 1 x Kallax long shelf.Remove one side from the Kallax ‘square’ 2×2 shelves to give adequate bar height (If you and your friends are giants you can leave these as square…)Step 2.Have a piece of glass made to fit the entire top length of the bar.(Note I also did the back wall to the side of the bar to give it a more ‘built in’ effect.Add bar equipment/ decorations to add around the bar.

Completing Our Wine Bar In Spite of IKEA's Slow Shipping

The whole assembly was just a shade under six feet, and the piece of butcher block we had was six feet exaclty. One of the first things we noticed after we had everything in place was a problem with the wine fridge's height. With the wine fridge situation settled, we moved onto placing the butcher block on top of the cabinets.

Completing Our Wine Bar In Spite of IKEA's Slow Shipping
One of the things I didn't like about the butcher block was its square edges.Wendy, who was "fine" with the stock edge, was more nervous that the router might "jump" and ruin the piece of butcher block.

Fluted IKEA Besta Sideboard Hack!

To find the right spacing, divide out seven of the side strips for each side, and 11 of the door strips for each door.Once all the strips were attached with painter’s tape, I used a nail gun to nail near the top, middle, and bottom of each strip.

To completely cover the hole, fill the hole and leave a little mound of extra filler on top of the hole.Once the two coats of paint are dry, remove the tape and your new fluted sideboard is almost done!

We use this sideboard to house all our TV cords since it’s under our Frame TV (which we love, by the way).

Easy X

Materials: EXPEDIT / KALLAXI have limited tools for woodworking, and wanted to construct a wine rack for my EXPEDIT.I measured the diagonal length of the cabinet cubby and cut the wood to length at a 45 degree angle.

Easy X
I cut one and put in place before cutting the next one, in case of wood irregularities.

The weight of the wine bottles will also hold the wood in place.

I inserted 9 wood pieces in each cubby, leaving a small space in the front of the cabinet for appearance purposes.
