The bedroom wall is finished!

The black wall in the bedroom is finally finished.The doorway on the left leads into a small fourth bedroom that we use as our dressing room.

The door that’s supposed to go there is missing, but I actually like that it’s open all the time.We have the door that’s supposed to go in this frame, but I have no idea when it’ll actually be hung.Maybe it’s not the most elegant solution, but I painted the lower half of the brackets with the wall color, and they recede completely.

We recently finished creating a new bedroom suite for our client, with a beautiful board and batten wall with a hidden door.And what better way to do that than with a beautiful board and batten wall, concealing the door with molding.

Bed Off Centered looking for opinions

I plan to add more wall panels to give more hight behind the bed and get new furniture.The wall length the bed is on is 12 feet with a bathroom door that opens out.I have 4 feet of space between bed and wall on onside and about 2.5 feet on side by windows.

DIY Murphy Bed Using Old Doors

Our Bedroom Ten Months In (Houston, We Have A Closet!)

Back to the inside of the bedroom – you can see that we now have some Pax wardrobes from Ikea along what used to be the bed wall.Now please allow me to gush for a minute about how good it feels to have this much storage space after living here without a bedroom closet.

Plus adding a bathroom wall will center the fireplace on the remaining bedroom wall (which you see below).

But trust me when I say that no table is gonna keep me from my vases & candles & baskets ;)So that’s our bedroom ten months in.

Hatchet Bedrooms

“Hatchet Bedroom” Have you heard this phrase before?It has to do with bedroom design, specifically where the bed is placed in the bedroom.

A “Hatchet Bedroom” is a bedroom where the head of the bed is placed on the same wall as the entry door into the room.There are other furniture driven reasons why this arrangement is better but that’s not really the point of this post.I think it’s really, REALLY important that furniture is drawn into the plan when designing the rooms.

Closets' doors; match walls, trim, or other color?

There's a pocket door for the room entry;it's normally closed.The walls are sage; the trim is buttercream; the ceiling is white.

Should I paint the doors the sage wall color, the buttercream trim color, or a different color altogether?

Paint cans outside the pocket door and remodel supplies all over the mud room.

The wall color is too pale in the photo above; the one below shows them too bright.

Master Bedroom: To center bed on wall or between door and wall?

We are trying to figure out bed placement in our Master - the wall to the right will be our accent wall where we will place our bed.Should we center the bed on the wall, or between the door and the window?If it is on the wall, how do we place the rug?Should it stop before the door (which seems like small scale for the room) or go past the door (which would be a huge rug)?

How To Emulate This Barn Door Closet (Wall-Length Closet Design)

We are redoing an entire bedroom wall and have the opportunity to create either a wall-length closet, or two 'his and hers' closets.I love the barn door look / idea and came across this photo which is pretty much exactly what I would hope for the space.

The only concern I have is -- do these barn doors not cover the entire closet opening?It's a charming look with an empty closet, but once our stuff is filling up the space I'm not sure we'd want the interior of the closet to be visible.OR, is that just a 'faux opening' and actually, the closet opening is more like 3 ft so when the barn doors are closed, there is simply a wall behind where the doors are now?

We have a king sized bed in our bedroom, and two windows.The position of the bed and furniture can't really be changed.

I would love suggestions on how to decorate the walls above and adjacent to the bed to bring balance to the space.

It's difficult because of the position of the two windows.

How to DIY a Shiplap Accent Wall for Cheap

Colby and I have talked about doing some sort of DIY accent wall in our bedroom for over a year.Well, not to mention the small detail that the faux shiplap wall was originally supposed to be board and batten.

This Children's Bedroom Has A Bunk Bed Built For Three
