The dominant colors in this apartment are grey and black and, since these are my favorite colors for interiors at the moment, I like it very much.But do not think of a dark and “sad” home, the result is a bright and relaxing apartment but with a lot of personality.

The main color chosen is a light grey that dominates on the walls, kitchen, sofa and fabrics.This light grey tone makes the apartment bright, welcoming and creates a sweet atmosphere.

These strong color touches work perfectly in the apartment and help personalize the interior and break the monochrome of the rest of the house.

I have been considering painting these living room walls black for some time.On the other side of this black wall is the kitchen.

A Hanging Fireplace And Black Accent Wall Stand Out In This Modern

Photography by Annette KislingWhen redesigning the interior of this Berlin home, originally built by Eduard Ludwig, architecture firm bfs design created a modern living room that features a black tiled accent wall, a hanging black fireplace, and a number of pieces of modern furniture.The wood burning fireplace positioned in front of the black tiled accent wall acts as a focal point in the room and ties together the other black elements in the living room, like the black sideboard, black and white area rug, black furniture and black wall.To protect the floor beneath the hanging wood burning fireplace from soot and embers, a white mat has been placed underneath the fireplace and blends in with the floor so as not to draw extra attention to the floor and instead leave the hanging fireplace and the other modern elements the main points of attraction.

The inclusion of the hanging fireplace, as well as the use of modern furniture and a black tiled feature wall, gives the living room a modern look and a cozier feel that’s amplified by the firewood piled along the back wall.

Gorgeous details and decor aside, this home has some great architectural details which are perfectly enhanced by the black paint.The windows, beautiful old heating elements and even the exposed pipes in the living room are all made into features and contrast so nicely against the bright white flooring and the soft grey walls.

I think the dark grey (almost black) feature wall in this Swedish apartment is the one thing that stands out so much.Everything that’s in front of this feature wall either blends in, like the black sofa, or pops out of this black background, like the flowers, the organic shaped white lamp, and the selection of beige and white pillow cases.

As opposed to the dark color palette of the living room, the bedroom has been decorated in a modest grey and beige palette, which has a calm and tranquil effect.I love the way the grey in the bedsheets works with the beige on the wall.

The dark grey of the living room comes back in the bedroom curtains as a red (or black) tread throughout the space, which is a nice touch.

DIY Hanging Living Plant Wall

After creating the small faux hanging plant wall for the LYN house, I really wanted to make one for myself, except I wanted to make it a hanging living plant wall.I knew that would be the perfect place to make my plant wall.When I repotted my Pothos for the living plant wall, I did use my trick of sprinkling the top of the soil with cinnamon.

I am so excited to see how the hanging living plant wall looks once the plants really start trailing down!

This living room has a very warm look with different tints of grey and beige, accessorised and furnished with black accent pieces.I like the white sofa in combination with the soft beige area rug and the big paper lamp shade looks very impressive in this living room as well.The beige linen curtains make the light coming in soft and I like the low black shelving unit on the wall as well.
