KitchensFeatures Mon 10th Jan 2022 by KBBFocusHow Sheraton Interiors chose classic Shaker for an open-plan extensionWe talk to Shehryar Khan, MD of Twickenham-based kitchen design studio Sheraton Interiors, to find out how the team went about creating a new design in keeping with the aesthetic of a Victorian family home.So when tasked by his clients to create an authentic design in a new rear extension including plenty of storage and space for entertaining, Sheraton Interiors' Shehryar Khan decided a classically elegant inframe Shaker style from the company's bespoke collection was the logical way to go.Shaker style suited the house and also the type of quintessentially British look that our clients were aiming to achieve," he explains. The focal point of the design is a majestic kitchen island, which offers the best of both worlds in terms of practicality and sociability."The island houses a Belfast sink, storage on the rear of the island, a dual-zone wine cooler and seating for four.

You can see here that the skirting boards match the walls while the doors are a different colour. And, of course, if you wanted to tie the skirtings in with the doors there is nothing to stop you.Own it, paint it bold and don’t pretend it isn’t there because it won’t disappear. As well as a full interior design service Emilie also offers colour consultation from paint to accessories (perfect for rented homes where you aren’t allowed to paint but still want to make the place your own).I hope, as ever, that has given you all some ideas and inspiration for your own places and spaces.
Use this Guide for the Perfect Bespoke Kitchen
Working with kitchens for a very long time, we have witnessed many potential mistakes homeowners make when planning their new kitchen design. You could choose a statement kitchen island perhaps in a different colour, or a freestanding handmade bar with a dramatic splashback for a unique design.Better zoning in a kitchen allows less congestion in busy areas and provides you with the perfect kitchen layout.Kitchen cabinets can be designed and made for glassware or the latest gadget with easy access. We will put together a bespoke kitchen design for you and your space.
Farrow & Ball Mizzle!
I have painted my kitchen and breakfast room walls with F&B Mizzle.Very yummy color!Next is the bank of uppers over the sink, which will probably get F&B Stony Ground, inspired by Rococogurl, and a near-perfect match for the Pratt & Larson backsplash tile. This last shot is a little rough...I haven't put the room back together yet.
Trend : Colourful Kitchen Cabinetry
Recently though, there has been an exciting development in kitchen design and we have been seeing some really bold statement colours coming through.Richard Davonport, founder & MD of Davonport says:“Choosing a kitchen colour scheme is no easy task.So let’s take a look at the colourful kitchen trend in more detail.“We’ve seen a real rise in the popularity of leaf green shades for the kitchen recently,” says Naomi Dean, furniture & showroom designer at Harvey Jones. This is set to be a popular kitchen trend in 2018: a classic and simple statement, letting homeowners express themselves through intelligent use of colour.”So guys, that’s my round up of the trend for colourful kitchen cabinetry.
Surfboard Yellow, Gentleman's Gray, Mizzle: How do paint companies
When I answer, “Benjamin Moore’s Gentleman’s Gray,” the questioner inevitably looks perplexed and assumes I have conflated two colors, because there is nothing gray about the shade.Hannah Yeo, Benjamin Moore’s color and design expert, says names play an important role when people are making color selections. However, Woelfer and her team try to keep their paint names as universal as possible so they appeal to a wide audience; Behr paints are available nationwide at Home Depot.“We put a lot of research into our paint color names, knowing they often sway consumers toward one shade or another,” Woelfer says.Founded by Natalie and Caleb Ebel, the collection has 50 paint colors with names that are as hip and cool as the company’s signature paint cans.

THE BEST GREEN PAINT COLORS
But a slight tweak in a shade of green paint and suddenly it’s a whole new love affair.Since I’ve dabbled in quite a few green paint swatches & gallons over the years, today I thought I’d share the best green paint colors that I’ve used in my own home and some that I’ve seen in other homes.A paint color will look completely different in one room than another and depending on which way the sun is facing.BENJAMIN MOORE NORTH SHORE GREEN LRV: 71 This color is a lovely, soft blue-ish green that sort of reminds me of Farrow & Ball Light Blue.I hope you found this helpful and feel free to reach out if you have any green paint questions!

Habitually Chic® » Mandy Moore's Mid-Century Modern Manse
I was telling my friend last weekend about how much I love following Mandy Moore’s mid-century modern house renovation on Instagram. The house was built in the 1950’s by mid-century architect modern Harold B. Zook and then underwent a terrible renovation in the 1990’s.I’m not a big mid-century modern fan but I can honestly say that I love this house. This is a very special guest bathroom.View of the guest bathroom with a better look at the custom brass inlay pattern.
Colours of the Month: Summer Shades for Solid Oak Kitchen Cabinets
If you are purchasing solid oak kitchen cabinets this month, the warm weather may have inspired you to opt for frontals painted in shades of a similar ilk: light and fresh.Oval Room Blue is at its best when paired with bright whites such as All White, or softer variations like Slipper Satin. When used on our oak cabinet frontals, this shade is ideally paired with solid oak worktops.Inspired by the delicate fabric used to make traditional ballet pumps, Farrow & Ball’s Slipper Satin is the prettiest of off-whites.If you would prefer to use Slipper Satin as the principal colour in your oak kitchen, partner it with dark worktops such as Black American walnut or wenge for an eye-catching, high-contrast effect.
Classic kitchen design trends that never go out of style -
We’ve outlined a combination of some of the style choices our customers have made, as well as some of our favourite kitchen design ideas that are both classic and timeless and so will never go out of style.Timeless kitchen design trendsCentral islandsDesigning a kitchen around a central island helps to create a focal point and hub at the heart of the room.Incorporating glass into kitchen cabinetry is not only a stylish design feature but also a great way to display glassware or crockery.A further consideration is that the materials used in bespoke kitchen design are carefully selected and rigorously tested, so it’s important to make sure the style has longevity because the kitchen itself will last a lifetime.Looking for more advice on designing a timeless kitchen extension?

LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER
There was 5 layers of wallpaper on every wall in this room, which took an absolute age to get off, even with help. The wall paint colour is a colour match of Mizzle by Farrow & Ball from a local paint shop, much cheaper, and if I’m honest, better coverage! It’s the perfect height next to the armchair and really finishes the room off, exactly what I was hoping for!And here’s the view from the front door – I’m not lucky enough to have a hallway, so you step straight into the living room when you walk into the house. So that’s it – my living room makeover – hope you love it as much as I do!
