New Craft Table and Chairs for the Playroom

It seems as if half the city had the same idea, I was absolutely shocked at the crowds at Walmart.I had an old kitchen table that I had been saving with the intention of painting it and using it as a craft area in the play room.

Need some advice regarding painting my kitchen table and chairs

I've had this table and chair set for around 7 years now...its really sturdy and its held up well.I don't mind the style however over the years, we have done quite a bit of damage to the finish and i am tired of the dark wood....i just want to paint it to refresh the piece and give it some new life.Anyway....i'm torn on whether to paint it using a spray gun and latex paint (I have the Home Right Finish Max Fine Finish Sprayer) or should I just use spray paint.

I realize it will be A LOT of spray paint, but i'm thinking the oil based paint will be more durable.

Any advice would be appreciated!
