Record player stand from IKEA BESTÅ and pallet wood

It HAD to go and we were in the market for a new record player stand.Materials used:1 x Pallet cage that held wood for wood burner – Free1 x IKEA BESTÅ TV bench – £404 x Hairpin legs – £25Wood GluePanel pinsStainBeeswax (these came to about £15)Total:£80Time:16 hours approxHow to hack a record player stand from BESTÅ unitsI dismantled the pallet wood cage, removed the nails and sorted it into same lengths.Measured the BESTÅ unit and cut the wood to length.Using a nail gun and Gorilla Glue I encased the unit in the pallet wood.For the time being I have used the BESTÅ door but I am making a door from pallet wood with a grill in it to allow air through onto the amp.

To say I was crunched for time when I decided to add this record player to the mix would be an understatement.(Oh and I want to add in that the record player I purchased was from Amazon !

This IKEA KALLAX hack is now a chic record player stand

THE IKEA KALLAX is an icon – loved for its minimalism, versatility, and ability to endure a makeover.The latest KALLAX transformation comes from Belin, where designer Romina Halewat set the standard for IKEA hacks far beyond Germany's urban jungle.

The designer achieved the look by picking up a KALLAX unit and adding some legs that instantly elevated the unit into a 1960' inspired piece.Alongside these legs, Romina added two KALLAX door inserts that reinvented the unit from its original flatpack heritage.

This is primarily because we’ve never had space or a kid-friendly place for his record player.So this year when he upgraded to this Audio-Technica turntable and Klipsch R-15PM Powered Monitor speakers we decided to create a dedicated space for his record collection.Then we looked online at new furniture but never found anything we really liked.

Neither of us are particularly handy but we decided to make our own record player storage.Joe bought the Kallax Shelf Unit in white from IKEA and attached these Waddell Taper Round 6 inch legs from Amazon onto the bottom using this heavy duty top let plate.

After getting a record player for Christmas, it was clear it couldn’t be assigned to the floor of our living room forever.A solution, therefore, was to find a record player console – or similar – that would hold it along with the rest of my HiFi system and records.

There is of course the standard use of a KALLAX 2×4 white unit but for the extra level I cut a LINNMON table top to 39cm to match the depth of the KALLAX unit.This was supported by a pack of CAPITA kitchen cabinet legs.The records above are sitting on 2 MOSSLANDA 115cm Picture Ledges.I hope you like it (I do).

TV unit and vinyl record storage in one KALLAX

I searched high and low for a TV unit as I wanted to put vinyl records and other stuff together in one media unit.Step 2:Next, I cut 3mm mdf boards 1 cm shorter than KALLAX units and attached them to the back of the KALLAX with nails.

I opened holes from under KALLAX and also a little bit to the wood with Ø6 wood drill bit.

After that I repeated the same operation to the panel on the side and finally the top piece of wood.What I like most is it’s cheaper then all TV units for my needs and very compatible with the color of the wall.

Materials: BESTÅ shelf/height extension unitStarting with a BESTÅ shelf/height extension unit I moved the center divider to the left to accommodate more space for my records and to fit my receiver perfectly.I then cut one shelf down to fit and did not use the other.Instead of using the top I replaced it with some Ipe (a brazilian hardwood) that I made at a local woodshop.

EKET CD rack: How to add a shelf to the cube

To keep her CDs organized, I was looking for a small CD rack.So I transformed an EKET shelf in no time at all into a CD rack.Materials for EKET shelf:1 EKET cube (25cm)1 MDF board (31.4 x 22cm)2 MDF boards (15 x 22cm)Spray paintTools:Pocket hole jigClampDrillScrewdriverUsing a pocket hole jig (and securing it with a clamp), you drill pocket holes into the underside of your MDF board.
