Two-level pressure treated deck with fire pit in southwest Fort
The owners of this newer home in southwest Fort Wayne had a small concrete patio for their outdoor living area.Together we designed an outdoor space that included a two-level deck with inset steps, 12V-LED lights on step risers and a natural gas fire pit.The owners specified pressure treated decking to minimize their investment while accepting some additional maintenance. When pressure treated is specified we always use Ground Contact treated lumber throughout to assure that there will never be a premature deterioration in any area of the deck. The deck was finished by closing off the underside with underdeck vertical board skirting to prevent debris from collecting underneath.

MULTILEVEL PRESSURE TREATED DECK WITH GLASS RAIL, HALIFAX
For this family just outside of Halifax, it made sense to have a multi-level deck to enjoy the surrounding forest from different heights. They were looking for easy access to the backyard, storage and spaces for cooking, dining, entertaining and relaxing.By enclosing the area under the top deck, we were able to give them plenty of hidden storage for their outdoor equipment. The stone veneer surrounds the cooking area and a beautiful sandstone counter top gives the chef plenty of prep space.Built-in benches were installed along the lower deck providing plenty of seating around the raised fire pit.

We’ve discussed at length the importance of a good deck design.Without a railing blocking views, it invites the eye out into the pool area and yard. Not only is all of one side of the pressure treated deck open to the pool area, but there is also an opening from the far deck area to the yard below. If you aren’t sure what will work best in your yard, make sure you consult a professional outdoor living designer. On an unrelated topic, we at Archadeck Outdoor Living are thrilled to open voting for our Dream Backyard Makeover contest tomorrow, April 23rd!
Raleigh Multi-Level Decking: More Than Just a Beautiful Deck
Do you love the look of a multi-level deck?Building a multi-level deck is similar to the open floor plans of modern homes, which typically feature a kitchen, dining area, and family room that all flow together.Choosing a multi-level deck with a porch on one level is a great way to provide both covered and open-air living in one structure. At Archadeck of Raleigh-Durham and the Greater Triangle, we aim to create outdoor spaces that really complement the natural environment. One of our favorite designs is to create a private upper deck, enclosed almost entirely with railings, with a wide sprawling staircase down to a lower level deck requiring no railings.
