Design Dilemmas: Choosing a colour palette

So first up choosing a colour palette and the difference between those warm and cool colours.Like me, my mother wore gold jewellery and had white hair so I imagine it was a short step from sliver hair to silver and cool colours and that was then the rule.The warm colours are basically yellows, reds, oranges while blues and greens and purples fall into the cool colour.

Of course there are variations – some blush pinks will look almost peach in a warm south-facing light while magenta is very definitely a bluish and cool pink.

But, on the basis that it’s good to start with our wardrobes when it comes to choosing a colour palette, the old gold and silver trick can work.

Tour the Hot Pink New York Home of a Spanish Fashion Designer

Alejandra Alonso Rojas doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty.She commissioned a nearly matching cherry red armchair from French designer Laura Gonzalez which pulls up to a small desk.

Starting with her fall/winter 2020 collection, Rojas had created floral patterns by painstakingly applying rose petals, rose leaves, and eucalyptus leaves to silk.“I think that was the hardest room, but the one that I had the most fun with,” Alonso Rojas says.

Whenever the family escapes from the city, he has a common refrain: “When are we going back to the pink house?”
