Hi, I am looking to add recessed lighting into a living room.I would like the lighting to be a combination of regular recessed lights as gimbal lights to highlight a book case on one wall.

If I was not doing gimbal lights, I proposed 6, 6" lights spaced according to the diagram attached.

However, the addition of the gimbal lights does not "add" to the lighting of the room, so how do I space these gimbal lights from the rest of the lights while adequately lighting the room?

Do I still keep the 6 6" lights and just add 2 gimbal lights between the Bookcase and the first set of lights?

Recessed lighting layout for my kitchen

I'm trying to finalize the layout of the recessed lighting for my kitchen.I plan on using 6" cans with Cree CR6 LED lighting.

There will be LED tape lighting under the cabinets.The dimensions of the kitchen portion of the room (not including the eat-in area) are about 9' x 14'.Option 2 has fewer cans, so maybe a more appropriate amount of lighting.
