Final Living Room Addition: Animal Print, Obviously
DecorAn eagle-eyed reader noted that the grey chevron rug that we put upstairs is the same rug that used to reside in our living room. You know, the rug that I photographed for this living room “after” post, in which I declared that I had finally – finally!Or…they didn’t destroy it, exactly…they just sort of “made it their own”, and even though I was able to clean it, I wasn’t able to return it to living room centerpiece-appropriate condition.Another thing that happened more or less simultaneously with the rug destruction: our ’50s-style coffee table collapsed in an unfixable way. This was unsurprising – it was really cheaply made, and did not stand up particularly well to our son’s desire to ride it like a horse around our living room – but still: argh.

What size rug do I need here? This isn't working so far
I have this burgandy 5'3" x 7'7" rug which I felt was too small for the space.I'd like there to be a large rug in the living area so kids can comfortably play on the floor, etc.So, I ordered this blue-green-tan 8' x 10' rug, but wasn't sure if I should leave wood floor showing in front of the fireplace, and this rug didn't seem to fit since some wood shows on two sides and not on the other two...The furniture has to stay where it is, even though that coffee table seems to be floating out there in the middle.I need help with that situation too...How should the rug fit in regards to the wood floor showing around the fireplace and furniture?

How to Match a Coffee Table to Your Sectional
Here are our best tips for matching a coffee table to your sectional. To make your space feel balanced, choose a coffee table that feels proportionate to the size and scale of your sectional.Think about it: an oversized coffee table just feels right parked in front of a large, overstuffed sectional — and it’s big enough to accommodate all who sit at your sectional.Conversely, a modern, clean-lined sectional pairs well with a slimmer coffee table, such as one with a metal base or an acrylic style. So before you buy a coffee table for your sectional, assess your space and even take a few measurements.
Before & After: Playroom Edition
by Dana Simpsonfrom our archivesMay 2020I recently decided to try and revamp my kid’s playroom and make it to more of a family room.We needed comfort (and better storage) for sure but not in the same way as we had in the past.I now call it my “knitting room” (wishful thinking) but truthfully, I think it will forever be the "playroom" to us.I also have been seen knitting here many times and love the afternoon light the room gets…something I had never noticed before.Thank you Ethan sofas for helping make my life in Quarantine a better one!
