Unfortunately, the red carpet must stay...so I need ideas on what paint colors would best go with it.We are painting the family room and stairwell.

Not sure what to do up stairwell to make it flow better.Thinking about mounting the TV on the wall and dumping the pinecone wreath...(made by my mother-in-law 20 years ago :) ) New door IS in the budget.
